Windows for old people is a horrible idea, it'll be full of viruses two days after they start using the laptop.

Get a used ThinkPad and upgrade to an SSD and add some RAM. Look for a 15" model it does not have to have a 1080p screen. Onboard video is fine as well, just make sure it comes from a dealer so that you may send it back if you have an issue.

I have to agree there. My grand mother is learning on a Lenovo Tablet running Android 10. With some early howto steps, more and more there are fewer questions on how this and that works. Good learning experience and no viruses.

If OP is ok with reinstalling Windows for his parents every month, sure, this is a great option.

You know, I kind of want a fully infected pc now that mine have been clear for years. Guess I should look on ebay for one and just buy it. Loading it up myself does not have the same feeling to it. I miss the annoying but harmless pop-ups with virus detected etc.....

Will feel the most premium compared to other sub-$300 Chromebooks.
