Does anyone have a weak gpu with a 4k monitor?

sparkchomp

I have a 2060, and I am considering to buy a 4k monitor. I wanna know what settings ill be playing games at if it can't reach 4k, Will Geforce experience make me run at a lower resolution? what is the usual resolution it suggests? Now if your playing at a lower res, lets say 1620p, 1440p etc on a 4k monitor

2060 is a good 1080p GPU, an OK 1440p at a mix of Low/medium/High settings depending on the game and to weak for 4k.

Yeah my Nvidia 940MX can do 4K, barely any games will run at 4K at all however, and Im pretty sure the 2060 can run some games at 4K (not any newer AAA games), not at 60FPS though.

I have a 550Ti on a 1440P display. It's not liking it one bit.

What in the fuck are y'all smoking to say that the 2060 would be a terrible 4K card?

Actually, now that I think about it, VRAM would be your limiting factor, by far. You'd have to work around not tapping out your VRAM at 4K before you'd have to work out what's actively 100%ing your GPU. Needless to say, 6GB is not a lot for even 1440p nowadays.

I meant when you optimize it for games. I want to know what resolution it will recommend.

Than isn't the next gen rtx 3070 with 8 GB ram really not that great for 4k gaming? I mean in the next 2-4 years won't there be games that can use more than that? I never understood why Nvidia just wouldn't make it like 12 GB for more future proof. Previous generations of cards became limited be because of ram and game technology can grow pretty quickly.

From the rumors it seems like AMD cases have 16gb which I actually really like.
