back to the main question.....

You guys think R3600 100%?

For your workload it would be better, but the difference is not that huge, you could get a better ssd or psu, but I personally would not buy it, dead platform, limited upgrade path.

Keep in mind that it has very limited upgrade path.

Again, by going with amd the upgrade path would be better imo. Not saying that upgrade path is not existant, just more limited than with AMD.

I never said it isn't, it is. AMD's upgrade path is better, but i5 also does better in gaming, so, different priorities for different people.

Going AMD you are getting much more options to choose from, also cheaper motherboards that can run much higher end cpu's, if you want to upgrade Intel cpu you might need to upgrade your mb also.

The R5 3600 can be anywhere from 5-20% faster in multi-core and single-core workloads, and anywhere from 40-60% faster than the i7 3770

That's a 3770 non-k. The 3600 can easily double the performance of 3770 in multi-core. I know because I have both.

so pick whatever you think is better

lets summarize

10400/f is cheaper and better in gaming

3600 more expensive and more powerful and can overclock

so pick one that suits you

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here

You will be shocked how much more responsive and faster the 3600 compares to 3770 non-k.

Why don't you wait a while for the 5600 early next year?

Over the summer break (for me anyway here is aus, dec-jan) im planning on doing a lot of video editing and hobbyist work.... catching up on all my projects lol

with the double performence, is that true aswell in games? or  is that gpu bottlenecked anyway?

In games less so. More like 20-30% faster.

Depends on resolution. If you plan to stick with 1080p, RTX3070 will be plenty. If you want 1440p or 4K, and have the budget, then RTX3080. No worry of bottlenecking with a fast six core 3600 or 5600 in games.

a 30% improvement is expected with a modern 6c/12t

like 10400f or 3600

again, i play at 1440p

Also, as ive said, no matter what its gonna be GPU bottleneck, so the slight perfromence difference the 3600 has is useless as my gpu will hold it back

I would be comfortable even with a RTX3080 for 1440p with a 3600. Your 1070Ti will be piece of cake.
