CL, Speed or First Word Latency

Moosh

So I was wondering in regards to RAM should I pay much attention to the CL or First Word Latency or is the only important part the speed. Like if I'm buying memory should I prioritise speed over everything or do I want to try and get some that's more a jack of all trades?

Ah, the CPU I'm thinking of getting is either a Ryzen 9 3900 or Ryzen 9 3950X.

Ryzen benefits from faster speeds as you probably know. CL14 3600MHz would be ideal, CL16 is decent and anything above that isn't great. I have CL16 3600MHz on my 3900X and it works perfectly fine and I see no disadvantages. CL14 would be better, though.

Ideally you want Speed, then CL, so for your CPUs listed, you want to get 3200-3600mhz, then as low a CL as you can afford, with the very best being 14 and typical is 16-18.

These are the sticks I personally use with my 3700x.
