stuck between on-board wifi or wifi card

Dragamesh

Budget (including currency): $1250ish

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Ark Survival, Nier Automata, Ghost of Tsushima, CoD, JRPGS

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Trying to finalize my build and the other thing I'm stuck on whether to get on-board wifi or a wifi card.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Spiral_King/saved/#view=Gj7BjX For the first build I have the MSI MAG B550M MORTAR. It has built in wifi 6 and is pricey, but I don't have to worry about extra stuff and it's all ready to go when wifi 6 becomes more commonplace.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Spiral_King/saved/#view=8nJXyc For the second build I have the Gigabyte B550M DS3H Micro ATX. The combination of this and the wifi card is cheaper than the MSI MAG MORTAR. Also, since I do not have a wifi 6 router, I decided to go with a wifi 5 card instead and when ever I upgrade to wifi 6 I can just get a better card.

Also, the Mobo's don't have to be mirco so all suggestions will be helpful.

I would go with the wifi card if I absolutely had to.  Wifi 6 (ax) will have a very short range and at that distance i'd rather just hook up directly.

I don't know your situation, but I would do everything in my power to run an ethernet cable and avoid wifi altogether.
