RTX 3070 Benchmarks Hit Geekbench

Random_Person1234

Summary

Benchmarks for the RTX 3070 have hit Geekbench, showing performance similar to the RTX 2080 Ti.  Scores were around the 350k range for the 3070, which puts it at around the same performance as the 2080 Ti. Scores between the 3070 and 2080 Ti's may not be perfectly comparable due to CPU and cooling differences.

We first stumbled across these results thanks to Apisak on Twitter. The top (and currently only) reply to Apisak’s thread also took the liberty of answering the burning question on everyone's mind by checking these results against existing benchmarks for the 2080 Ti, which they found normally runs in the 345k-355k range. When we checked ourselves, we found this does appear to be the case on the Geekbench Browser at least, though there are outliers that are both significantly higher and lower than the RTX 3070’s scores.

My thoughts

This looks promising for Nvidia's claims, although hopefully the availability is better than the 3080 and 3090.

I'd be more interested in the cost differences, then consider one or the other.

Cool story. We still can't even buy RTX 3080 or RTX 3090 lmao. What's next, news about RTX 3060 ? :D

How much is it going to cost to acquire one compared to a 2080Ti, in reality?

I currently find used 2080Tis for as low as 400€. If the 3070 launches at 500€ and because of availability will probably rise to like 600€, then it still doesn't make tooo much sense compared to buying used.

The Finnish retailer I typically buy my stuff from is listing the cheapest 3070 - models for 570€. That includes the Zotac GeForce RTX 3070 Twin Edge and Asus GeForce RTX 3070 DUAL. I'm so far eyeing the Asus-board for myself and the hubby.

Prices aren’t truly set until the pricing gun hits the box in the store.  We shall see what we shall see.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
