I remember reading this week ago on AnandTech quite interesting. Reminded me where's AMD with chiplet design for future GPUs I know they mentioned it before. But yeah, seems only mater of time now.

Obligatory car analogy - If the GPU is the engine, the driver is driver. Power is nothing without control.

 

How well would a PowerVR GPU work with older DirectX titles??

It looks like nVidia is moving out of the gaming space and into GPU compute spaces, while AMD/ATI and Intel are left to fill the void. Which isn't to say I think nVidia is going to stop making Geforce parts, just that I doubt they are going to make low-end parts when Intel and AMD are can produce parts that are half the price in that performance tier.

 

So if PowerVR really did decide to enter this space, that might be interesting. But I kinda feel this is not what Innnosilicon is doing, rather they're building GPU for "Stadia" and other cloud gaming services. I don't really see these ending up in desktops other than gamedev's.

 

Ironicly, I think the real reason we're seeing a heavier push for cloud gaming is because the rest of the world can not afford a gaming pc or game console, but they can afford a TV dongle.
