James

there's plenty of people on the internet who say DONT use an OLED as a pc monitor because there are too many static things on the screen.

They're not outright wrong to say so - but there are ways to mitigate the impact of a desktop on an OLED screen - at least a few suggestions have been posted to the thread.

With that in mind? I literally ran a Plamsa TV as a desktop monitor for an HTPC for quite some time. TV is still kicking - it has some image retention if you're on a static image for too long, but no burn in.

Note:

Difference between image retention and burn in

Image Retention is short term retention of image elements, particularly static elements with bright colours. These will go away on their own when the image changes, but can be "sped up" but changing the image to something contrasting from the previous image - usually something very bright and vibrant.

Burn-in is permanent damage to the cells, in which certain specific image elements become permanent fixtures on the screen (Eg: CNN Logo if you leave it on news 24/7).

Now, I don't own an OLED TV, but my understanding is that the burn-in issues on Plasma TV's were way worse. And I do own a Plasma TV. If you switch up your content often enough, it simply won't be an issue.

I'm really considering this for an office/gaming setup...
But in a cheaper more reasonable configuration with an LG 49NANO867NA (now in Germany available for about 480€), maybe with a windows grid manager and full screen for gaming.

Would this be a feasible option? (I know it lacks G-Sync but has Freesync, considering an AMD RX6800XT no problem)

For those interested. It has been discussed by HDVtest (Vincent), that the LG OLED VRR raised gamma issue is likely not to be fixed, as such owners who want to work around it will need to get the display calibrated whilst ,VRR is active, to calibrate out the the raised blacks in near black content.

OLED48CX9LB

It's a 48CX, forget the stuff afterwards, it's different by region and part of it is things like the color etc if there are multiple options.

The previous version was C9, not CX9.

Oh shit thanks! Cause I was so lost on this naming, and saw all the promotions and was like why are they promoting it if they are not selling it :)

But are these 2 different?

From the store's comparison thing it looks like the 2nd comes with an IR blaster and the other doesn't...

Are we going to be seeing more regarding this screen?
As many consider it the best monitor you can buy right now, I would live to see some more game/productivity reviews from LTT.
Also, maybe a triple cx48 surround gaming review.
