I never said damage... ;)

Well the green labels ones caused damage...

They could have other problems, stability issues etc.

His is not green label though. What do you mean by not made for gaming systems then?

Like I said don't OC anything, CPU or GPU.

That PSU is NOT made for a gaming system.

what do you think its better a z390 meg ace + cx750m or z390 M gaming + RM850x?

It's a budget PSU, made for office machines, workstations etc.

The TXM and above are more your PSUs for the gaming rigs etc.

I would cheap out on the MB either. ;)

That's just as bad, could be even worse, budget MB's plain suck.

That MB does seem kinda high though, but I wouldn't cut all the way down to garage.

Arguments? It's perfectly fine for midrange gaming systems or higher end with no oc. You disagree on this also?

MID range and LOWER is fine.

Well the mid range has changed now, so I would say lower mid range.

NEVER cheap out on the core components, your platform base parts.

PSU and MB...

EVERYTHING plugs into those two parts, they ARE the system.

NOPE.

But PSU wattage isn't the issue here, it means nothing.

Could be 650W or 1000W, makes zero difference here.

What would you rather have and use?

RMX 650W or a CXM 850?

CX or CXM? (you mentioned CXM in the title but CX in the thread)

Either way, it should work for the time being if you already have it - in the case of the CXM though it might just whine quite badly with that 2080 because of its double forward topology.

I'd probably get something nicer though when possible, like an RM650x, Straight Power 11 Gold 650W, Ion+ 660W, Whisper M 650W - just to name a few options.

Do you already have that system though, or have you got a good deal on it used? A 9900K and RTX 2080 seems like rather odd choices for a new build at this point in time.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

When the Z390 MBs are expensive now too, the good ones anyway... If you can even find a good one.

Would be better off with a Z490 Build now...

Compared to what?

It's the internal parts that make up the PSU, it is a budget unit.

Compare complete tear down and testing reviews between the CX750M and RMX 750W.

compared to teclab parameters and tomshardware too.

i see the teclab video cx750m 90.4% efficiency + ripple under 30mv + 114,8 F in full load for 15 minutes (good temps) + good ripple supression in 110% load. Is a good psu

It's a longevity thing, reliability thing once you take a PSU model out of it's designed use.

Like when they used to recommend the green labeled one for gaming rigs and it was cooking parts.

Using a PSU outside of it's design.
