can my gtx 970 run 144hz?

Just wondering cuz im getting a new monitor soon that is 1080p 144hz and im wondering if my 970 will work with it and if it will be powerful enough to reach 144fps in any games.

 

Evga gtx 970 ssc acx 2.0

amd r5 2600

any games? Some lighter titles at low/medium settings could work, but most titles would struggle.

There are always old enough games that will do 144fps, but realistically this is a 1080p 60fps card with only medium settings if not less.

i plan to play csgo, and other games like that. i plan to get an rtx 3070 eventually tho, which should be able to handle 144hz easily. Just need to know if my 970 will be good enough for now.

My Fury X is a much faster GPU than a 970 and only is good for 144+ FPS in older games, or with newer games everything turned all the way down - and still not guaranteed to stay at 144 FPS

CSGO would run at a pretty high framerate on that graphics card, it's not a terribly new game.

yeah i just tested it and it doesnt go under 150fps at 1080p max settings, but other games will be different

depending on games, and graphical settings

but you'll either be GPU limited, or CPU limited at those fps

 

if GPU limited, you can turn down graphical settings

but if CPU limited, nothing much you can do, tbh

 

CSGO would be a CPU limited game, but 144fps shouldnt be an issue unless you summon a ton of bots.

esports games sure, note that the 2600 will also be a bottleneck soon so a faster graphics card wont bring you that far
