Office Workstation V3 - The Final Revision!

Go to solution Solved by RealBACONATOR2,

Pretty clean! Very nicely done

After a reasonably long thread with various parts being changed out, as I did on my home workstation, I am starting a new thread to show the final itteration of this build. It has had 3 different motherboards in it, 2 different CPUs and various other changes so this is the final version of this build - the next work PC will be a scratch build, which hopefully won't be for some time! Like my home workstation, it is totally overkill but will hopefully facilitate some flexibility on the tasks its put to use on in the future.

And so to the specs:

CPU: Intel i9 9900kf
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 UD
RAM: HyperX 64gb (4x16gb) DDR4 3000MHz CL15
GPU: Asus TUF Gaming RTX2060 6GB GDDR6

Added a full suite of benchmarks (on OP) with some pretty impressive results - eclipsing some of the CPU benchmarks on my home rig, which is on a supposedly better motherboard (some are lower - overall about the same - I am lucky to have 2x 5.1GHz all core i9-9900kf chips - silicon lottery winner twice). Serious firepower.

After having a Corsair 275R Airflow and an RM750x and 64GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz C16 leftover from my home upgrade, I decided to transplant this work machine into a new case and put the RAM and PSU in there as a little upgrade at the same time. Sorry for the pics with the glass panel already on. I had already put it on and couldn't be bothered taking it off again!

Couple of minor upgrades to this machine.

  • Corsair RM850 PSU (because I had a spare after upgrading home machine)
  • Gigabyte RTX2060 12G (to make the build a Gigabyte build)
  • SoNNeT Allegro 2-Port SuperSpeed USB-C 10Gbps PCIe Card (saves changing the motherboard to get USB-C capability)

Ran Cinebench R23 for 10 mins, one core touched 90c, all others mid-late 80s. On the NH-D15 cooler. Attached was a full day of using office applications. Temps never exceeded 60c

My 2 home systems both have 128GB RAM so I thought it would be good to make this office system 128GB. Went for the Corsair CMK128GX4M4E3200C16 (3200 /C16) kit. Can do pretty much anything in memory now which gives the machine a new level of versatility.

Changed the RTX 2060 for something more modern. This being the Gigabyte RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. Overkill for this machine but nice to keep all the components reasonably up to date.
