i only intend to use FB for VR, not update my life and everything on it.

the data they can gather is only thru VR, which i don't really know how much they can gather.

but honestly, why cant other companies sell VR headsets cheaper, so i dont have to deal with this dilemma

well they can push ads to your email, sell ads in the vr itself and passably record your vice maybe even eye tracking.. but if you uses the enet or have a cell then your probably all ready been compromised anyway.... even if you buy grocery with a card some data is being keept.

(and considering right now is the worst possible time to buy a new GPU... yeah).

I disagree.

It might be the worst time to buy a "new" GPU, but it's a great time to buy a used one.

You are going to find 1070s for $200 and 1080 Tis for $350. Those are way better value offerings than any new card right now as they're equivalent to the 1660 Ti and the 2070 Super respectively

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

I'm in Canada.

The 1080 Tis are still going for over $600 used, unless you get lucky with an auction. With the 1070 ranging from $400 to $600. I can get a brand new RX 5700 XT for $510.

Used prices are all over the place here. People are trying to sell their 2080s, for the same price as the 3080 would be if bought in stores. The lack of new supply to accommodate the demand resulted in a price hike for used cards.

At these kind of prices, I'd rather wait for the supply to catch up, which will decrease the demand and prices.

Aw man, that's a bummer.

I bought a 1080 Ti for $410 equivalent and was very happy, but that's keeping in mind I live in a country where the equivalent local currency price for a graphics card is generally 20% higher than MSRP. For instance new 5700XTs start at something like $489

Right, for me new 5700XTs start at about $510 (on sale). At which point, buying a used 1080ti for more than that, I'd be insane considering they are practically equal in performances.

That's $500 CAD, that's not bad lol

Down here they're the equivalent of $500US ($660CAD)

  • 2 weeks later...

Facebook is using social engineering if you think about what features they are using. Like casino's do the same thing with lights and sounds, grocery stores to. Facebook wants to keep you engaged in whatever they want you to be engaged in. Its worth more money to them, along with your data, your friends they can easily predict what you will buy, who you will vote for, determine your personality. Everything is up for sale with them, why? because its a free service and they need to get paid. Part of the reason why Trump won, using facebook analytics, scraping data and customizing ads based on facebook data on what you like.

It seems to me that the people that use facebook daily are hooked and do not care about facebook using the data. They also read every word in your gmails. I'd personally hate to see what the Google phones are doing, but its all based on the same thing, facebook and the messages are analyzed.
