Zen 3 announcement discussion

the 8 core maybe, but the 6 core and 12 core models both allow somewhat defective die (only 6 core per CCX needed)

Don't forget that the 3900X has one good CCX and one not-so-good CCX.

they didnt even up the core count. so even more price increases is just insane. 300 for a 5600x? 450 bucks for an 8 core? what the fuck. thats intel style pricing lol

So looks like there will not be a 5700x, right? I guess it makes sense since most reviews shower that the difference between 3700x and 3800x was only about 2-3% in performance, so if they decided to simplify and just keep one successor, the one with a higher number just looks better on the store shelf. 5800x.

Problem with this, there might not be enough low end stuff, if the yield is good.

They will likely just keep selling 3000 series parts to the lower end market.

probably they wait until they could find some defected chips to bin. This could take a long time.

Such a waste to sell a healthy 8 cores and disable 4 just to sell them as Ryzen 3.

I think in the next 6 months we wont see any R3 lineup.

At least $550 for a 12 core is only a slight increase over the previous $500 12 core, credits to AMD

Then why is the 8 core so bloody expensive? Would expect a small price gap in this case, it really doesnt make sense. There has to be a 5600 and 5700X coming soon

yeah thats the only nice thing.
i was planning on getting an upgrade (made a post in the cpu section). and was gonna go for the 5800x. but.. now i may as well get a 3800xt right? since its literally 100 bucks cheaper then the 5800x and at 1440p gaming would it really make a difference?

heck ill even save money since i dont have to get a new mobo (didnt wanna one way bios brick my current one)

I think they won't have a problem selling underclocked 8 or 6 cored version.

With 8ccx there might be no 4 core part to sell in the near future.

tbh if you're satisfied with 4 cores, just get a 3300x. It already has Zen 3's "all cores in one CCX" advantage and is cheap.
