yeah i think they are purposely making it seem unattractive so they dont have to do it

The iPhone 11 series ranges from $699 to $1099. The iPhone 12 series is predicted to have similar pricing.

It's still a relatively small fraction of Android users. There are way more Android phones below that price range than above.

Might as well throw in the 399 dollar iphone se, since its basically a iphone 11.

uh, not really. or rather it will nag you with almost daily reminders, and not only android updates, almost every single app... and I haven't found a way to turn these off yet.

 

wasn't a problem on older versions, but 10 is really incredibly persistent about trying to make you update basically constantly...

You can disable updates on Android, although Apple did get sued over slowing their phones down.

What does that have to do with the pandemic? I would have to guess more people are using facebook though, and I doubt most people would be removing facebook from their iphone because most people I know of use facebook or messenger on their iphone.

The size depends on the topic of the survey. Considering that Android phones are used by people from all over the world and therefore many factors change from product availability, income, needs.... It is a small fraction. 2000 would be more significant f you were surveying, say a brand of cereals based in the US.

You can disable updates in iOS, but it's assbackwards. You have to install the tvOS beta profile on your phone and it wouldn't get new updates. This is how the Jailbreak community stops upgrades, or at least how I'm aware they do.

 

EDIT: This is invalid, I just looked it up and apple has stopped allowing the installation of tvOS profiles on an iPhone. As of now there is no way of blocking OTA update notifications on an iPhone short of blocking the update server on your router or jailbreaking. Sorry for sharing misinformation.

that's exactly my point. 2000 is fine but you need to find a proper average of people within the country, not just 1 city / area or something as your results will be heavily skewed if you do that.

Yeah I get that. And as I mentioned, the fact this includes users willing to spend $650+ on their phone shows what kind of sample they had.

What this really shows is that customers just want a phone that works. They don’t care about ‘customisation’. They just want a good phone that will work for a long time - that’s what Apple represents (through marketing or otherwise).

 

If Samsung/other Android vendors got its junk together with its prices, and advertised long term support with nice easy features (which some models have of course) this poll would be different.

yeah that can get annoying, apps updating in the background I don't mind but OS updates I'd like to at least delay in case theres any bugs.

it's really funny, all Sony phones before the Xperia Z4 were really solid, robust, cheap for what you got, etc. they also copied iphone pretty much 1:1 design wise (z1-z3 at least)... and no one seemed to like them... now all android phones are kinda cheap looking, boring , with bad batteries that don't last more than 2-3 years...

Thats part of the reason I switched to Apple. I decided to see if the grass was greener on the other side. While there are a few things I miss about Android, I really like iOS.
