Overclocking Ryzen 5 1400 with ASUS TUF B450M Pro Gaming Motherboard

Hey Guys,

 

I want to dabble with overclocking and push more performance out of my Processor. My current setup is

 

Ryzen 5 1400 at stock 3.2Ghz at 1.11875v

be quite! Pure Rock 150w TDP

Asus Tuf B450M Pro Gaming motherboard

Team Group T-Force Tuf Gaming Alliance RGB RAM 8gb x2 3200 CL16

MSI Armour RX570 4GB

Kingston A2000 240GB NVme Gen 3x4

TopPower 800w 80+Bronze

 

Temps at Idle Proc would be 45-55c in load using aida64 max would be high 60 depends on ambient temp. Its pretty hot here in the Philippines specially noon to mid afternoon heat index will hover around 30-35c

My GPU at idle is the same max would reach 75c with fan at 50-60%

 

What voltages and Frequency should I start with? And max voltages and should stay within.?

Also, Can I attach the reset switch button to short the bios reset so I won't need to open up the case.

1.35V should be the max. i would start with 100MHz steps until is isnt stable anymore

I dont have that much experience with Ryzen master, but if you want the max. clock just set the voltage to 1.35

I would start at 4.0ghz 1.375vCore, if stable (boots, passes Cinebench R20 without crashing or overheating), then step down the vCore in tiny increments until unstable.  Then decide if you want more OC (4.1+) and work on bringing up the frequency and vCore (100mhz at a time on the CPU, whatever smallest increment your board allows).

Have overclocked my Proc now running 3.7 at 1.3v tried running at 4.0 but its not having it. crashing immediately. Ran it at 3.8 at 1.35 was not stable was able to start Cinebench r20 but crashes in the middle. Ran it with 3.7 at 1.35 finished is now ran it at 3.7 at 1.3 still fine. Although I cant seem to overclock my RAM. Its rated at 3200 CL16. At default ran at 2400 CL16 enabled DOCP setting at 3200 CL16 1.35 but wont even post, Now running it at 2666 CL16. Should i push my ram more at 3200 but higher latency like 18?

tweaked it a little I got 2800 1.35v for my ram CL18 though, set the timings at auto. how much higher can I push dram volts?

BTW I reseat my ram based on the manual recommended config. before overclocking placed is at the furthest slots 2 and 4 respectively. but after i checked the manual it recommended it to placed at the nearest meaning slots 1 and 3. Before that i was able to set the ram at 3200 manually with voltages at auto and not using DOCP. does this matter?

So reseated the ram to slots 2 and 4, and I am able to turn on DOCP with no errors was even able to bump up cpu freq to 3.8 at 1.35v while getting better thermals. with "recommended configuration" I was not able to get DOCP and not reaching stable run at 3.8.
