HELP: should I upgrade to an RTX 2060?

I've been getting back into PC gaming lately and I'd like to be able to play MH: World at 1080p 60fps, so I want to upgrade my GTX 770 to an RTX 2060. I'm quite ignorant when it comes to PC hardware however, so I was wondering whether the upgrade is worth it (that is, achieve the desired result) and whether the rest of my setup isn't going to bottleneck it. I'm running an Intel Core i7 4770K and 8GB of RAM. Would greatly appreciate any help.

PS: I'm also having problems with complete computer freezes on startup (forcing me to manually restart the PC) which I'm blaming on the age of the 770, but I might be mistaken

What is your psu? I assume it's fine as a 770 and 2060 consume about the same amount of power.

However you will also want some more ram mh world especially iceborne wants some more ram.

I would also say wait a little for a 3060 to come out or snag a used 2070 or something a new 2060 is pretty poor value nowadays.

Don't worry about bottlenecking your 4770k is plenty. Also a gtx 770 should be well enough to currently play it at low 1080 60fps.

For the freezes have you ever cleaned out your system? Are you on a ssd? Still the original windows install from all those years ago?

I believe you will experience a small bottleneck with that processor of around 5-8% performance on the table... If you're going to do this upgrade I would also recommend going from 8gb of ram to 16gb ram (2x8gb for dual channel) If I were you I would A. upgrade the ram to 16gb B. upgrade your power supply if you need to. C. go with a 2060 but keep in mind your leaving around 8% on the table.

I am a human that makes mistakes! If I'm wrong please correct me and tell me where I made the mistake. I try my best to be helpful.

AS the great linus once said "Think of it kinda like if you could buy two XBOX Ones, bolt them together and actually run games at 1080p. Hah! Burn." lol'd so hard"

Why the 8%? It's still a 4770k a totally fine cpu that didn't hold back a gtx 1080ti in benchmarks or if it did it was maybe 2%.  If this is pulled from a bottleneck calculator word of advice those things are pretty much bullshit :p.

My power supply is Corsair CX650. I have a DDR3 Fury Hyperx 8GB stick in there, should I add a second? I know 770 runs at 1080 low, but I'd like to experience ultra settings, that's why I want to switch. When will the 3060 come out? I was under the impression 2060 was the newest 'standard' consumer card.

I'm cleaning out my system now, I am on an SSD. I think I reinstalled windows a couple of times.

Can you give me some expected benchmarks for 2060/2070/3060 with MH World on ultra 1080p?

Thanks a lot!

For sure add a second stick. The 2060 is not good value at all for a mid range card and is to be replaced by the 3060 in a couple months. So that is why if you want to upgrade now get a used far better value card or just wait.
