Chrome won't use my actual GPU

My chrome used to run my integrated GPU instead of the dedicated one, when I manually switched it, everything was fine. But then now suddenly it switched back to my integrated again, I just did what I did before again but it didn't work. Any help? I'm not very good at much tech stuff but am very interested in it.

I don't think you'd need the dedicated GPU just for Chrome anyway (as 4k YouTube video can even play straight of iGPU anyway, and playing huge videos are more on CPU power instead of GPU, which a lot people still wrongly thought). If you're using a laptop, it's the sake for battery and resource usage efficiency.

Humor me, as you should do.

Daily drivers:

Acer Aspire E5-475G

Intel Core i5-7200U 2.5 GHz (Turbo 3.1 GHz) || NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 2GB

4GB Micron DDR4 + 4GB Team Group DDR4 PC19200

120 GB WD Green M.2 SATA SSD + 480 GB Pioneer APS-SL3N SATA SSD

Windows 10 Single Language x64

Some old computer laying around as my HTPC

Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 1.8GHz || (fake lol) NVIDIA GeForce GT730 2GB DDR3

Some random old motherboard. Works fine tho.

512 MB + 512 MB random DDR memory

40GB IDE HDD + 1 TB old laptop SATA HDD, got bad sector unfortunately

Linux Mint 20 Ulyana Xfce x64

Some old TCL CRT TV laying around + RCA to HDMI converter

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8

4GB RAM, 64GB Internal Storage

64GB SanDisk Ultra (80MB/s Read) External Storage

MIUI 11 Global

Aukey Turbo Charger PA-U28 QC2.0 + Aukey CB-CD4 PVC Type-C Cable

Audio

Some random home-theater speakers I took freely from someplace and big-ass bass with old computer speaker amplifier. It sounds good af tho.

I play some browser games on on chrome and it has really made a difference due to the fact that my iGPU is 2x worse than my actual GPU. Thanks for your help tho

Have you gone into the nvidia control panel and set it to use the dedicated card there? You can pick which programs use what card from the drop down menu.

That's where I first changed it from iGPU to my actual GPU. Now if I try it, it shows that I already am using dedicated for chrome but it doesn't work. :(

yeap I don't get it, browsers and videos run fine on weak i5 iGPU.... and I'm very happy about that, I always prefer using integrated as long I'm not playing a *demanding* game.

Try this and see if it works: https://support.cloudhq.net/how-to-fix-slowness-in-chrome-browser-and-gmail-screenshot/

If you do that it will force GPU rendering.
