3700X vs 10600K

Niidhogg

Hej,

Looking for a new processor to go with my 3080 to play in 4K. I have ~650€ for proc. mb and cooling.
Here is what I found:

-AMD:

Intel:

Wich one is better for 4K gaming you'll say and why ?

Honestly either is fine for 4k gaming because you don't even need an amazing fast cpu for 4k. The reason is because the gpu is the bottle neck at that res. So imo I would go for the cheaper one (AMD) and also because you can upgrade later to a better cpu if needed.

Those motherboard choices seem a bit ridiculous. There are plenty cheaper good enough boards for gaming pc:s but I will throw in MSI:s B550-a pro and z490-a pro. Scythe Fuma 2 is a better cooler at least for Intel platform, AMD with lower wattage will run near silent with an Arctic Freezer 34 or Silentiumpc Fera 3/Fortis 3.

I would buy an AMD Ryzen 5 3600. No need for the additional cores unless you do anything other than gaming, which doesn't seem to be the case here.

The reason is you won't need any more gaming power and adding more cores doesn't increase gaming performance once you're at 6 (as of today anyway).

You can use the money saved for quality of life upgrades like peripherals or a better screen etc

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here
