RTX 3080 - Can it Run CRYSIS (Remastered)??

NickHeavy

We got our hands on an early build of Crysis: Remastered. Took some of our top end components, a copy of OG Crysis, and remastered and checked them out side by side. Huge thanks to Crytek for getting us an early copy.

I remember trying to get Crysis 1 running at more than 30 on an Nvidia GeForce GTS 250m (1GB DDR3 version) on very high. I don't think I can run the remaster on it, RIP.

OMG  it is so funny that it Crysis still even taxes a bleeding edge GPU and monster system. "Can it Run Crysis" mode should be a setting on every game.  Just max everything to so much realism it might just cause PTSD.

Us ordinary folks might not get to experience this for another few weeks or months when 3000 series cards become really available.

I actually thought the original game looked better..
the new one has a few better things like better rocks and draw distance, but the artsyle is bad. Looks way too bright and cartoony. The guns especially.

I was feeling the same way, it looks "sanitized" compared to the OG Crysis. But that might just be me.

WTF. Linus talked about being excited to try out 120 hz 4k on his TV.  And then he didn't even bother testing out the game at high frame rates.  I'm genuinely curious if he got 4k120 with g-sync working without issue.  I wouldn't be surprised if his HDMI cable wasn't good enough or the TV needed new firmware or something.

Problems with the original Crysis didn't have anything to do with hardware - it used an interim engine build (CryEngine 2) that wasn't coded properly, making it unstable even for mod developers. This meant no spec (except those in the studio specifically solely for the game) could process its graphics the way they were meant to, but nobody is going to buy a PC simply for ONE game.

I thought that Crytek was going bankrupt, I saw the RT demo back when it was released, but did not know what to expect. Doing a remaster of Crysis looks like a smart way to get something out without much expense.

@NickHeavyDoes anyone on the LTT team have an opinion/idea on the reason why Crytek is in the state it is now? Cryengine used to be an impressive game engine, the original crysis still looks good after so many years!

Crytek expanded to fast, opened to many dev studios in multiple locations. There have been vids on them in the past by other youtube that explain it all.

This game + 3090 = Must-have. It will be really interesting to see the finished game with polished drivers run on the beefier GPU, more so if they can get it to scale with TWO cards.

Reminds me of the days when gaming on Far Cry. That was an absolute blast. Now I'm tempted to go back to Far Cry and Crysis and play them again. The FPS gamer in me has been triggered LOL.

I'm so glad "Can it run Crisis" is back, if only so Linus can say it dramatically in his best impression of a manly voice when he's going to show benchmark results.

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

I still have the original Crysis game on disc. As for the system I ran it on, I can't remember exactly what because I can't remember if I was playing it after I upgrade my Pentium D to a Xeon X3350, which was a Q9450. Graphic card was a ATi Radeon HD 2900XT OEM, this came with 1GB of GDDR4. Retail only came with 512MB of GDDR3. FPS, didn't bother, it was playable and extremely fun.

What's the case on that test bench Linus holds up at 0:25 into the video? Also what's the lap keyboard he's using at 1:14?

Me too. I still have Crysis installed on an old vista pc I use to play Halo multiplayer on upstairs.

I fire up Crysis every once in a while to play the single player along with FEAR single player and other old games I liked from back then.

I just don't want to throw all that stuff away when I still enjoy it.

I wish they would remake all those old games with new versions for windows 10.

Games seem like they've gotten worse to me with less adult themes, less gore and more cartoonish graphics since those days.

They are just way less interesting all around to me.

It bums me.

I enjoyed watching this video.

I'm sure it looked beautiful on that OLED but I could never game on a screen that wide. 😁

Really hope they optimize the game before release; or else Crytek gonna shoot themselves in the foot on repeating their mistakes on the game.
