Can I use multiple adapter for one monitor?

Hi I have a new MacBook Pro with a dongle that has two usbs and an hdmi. Do you guys think it would work if I was to use another adapter to go from hdmi to the vga on my monitor?

Thanks

Edit: Would there be a lot of latency? That is my main concern.

There will be some latency, because hdmi -> vga requires an active converter with some (very simple, but still) processing involved. I doubt it will be noticeable though
