5Ghz 7700K still adequate for 3080 @ 1440p HRR?

Hoping to continue using my Z270 platform for at least another generation unless tangible benefits are to be had with say, the 10700K. 

 

Suppose we'll find out in a day when NDA lifts and bechmarks surface.

5GHz 7700K is still an adequate gaming CPU these days. See the gamers nexus review of the 3300X, still scales well all the way up to the 2080 ti pretty well.

yeah, but i would think it'll be fine for 60fps in most games, consistently above 100 might be a bit tough if the game is more CPU heavy

 

and whether the GPU will be fully utilised depends on graphical settings, i guess

At 1440p, thats totally fine. As games start using more threads it will not be enough, but right now your totally fine. Likely fine for the next 1-2 years.

 

Remember, even if there is some level of bottleneck going on, your still talking about a 3080 for 1440p..... It will be plenty fine
