Will we get new boards for Rocket Lake? I've read Rocket Lake should support PCIe 4.0

As per the title: I've also read current z490 Gigabyte boards have support for PCIe 4.0 and that Asus boards "severely lack behind in PCie 4.0 support"; it seems Asus aren't just not talking about it, they (if the article linked to is correct) probably don't have it.

Will we see new boards for Rocket Lake?

Well yea, every new line up usually comes with a new chipset. 

But most z490 boards are technically gen 4 capable. 

But yes at least usually, every new line up of cpus comes with a new chipset.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad. 

 

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

 

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

I'm planning out my next PC build and I generally buy on the used market. I'm just worried I won't get the motherboard I want.

I've got some DDR4 RAM on it's way to me and hoping to pick up one of the next generation of Asus motherboards.

I've read Alder Lake is rumoured to support DDR5, so I'm probably going to pick up a 11900K on the used market once Alder Lake's released.

Well we don't really know anything about them. 

So you could just wait and check for yourself.

but you're not getting PCIe 4.0 with a 10900k tho, why worry about PCIe 4 support?

I guess so. It's just for gaming and I've got a ton of older titles to play, so I'm going to try and stretch my 4790k out as long as possible.

What I found on my particular section of the PC upgrade curve (more the foothills than the peak) was that fast DDR3 RAM was hard to come by when it came time for me to upgrade, so I've got out ahead of the DDR5 launch and bought some fast DDR4 RAM...

...just worried I won't get the motherboard I want. Good quality boards supporting the 4790k were really thin on the ground when last upgraded. I was lucky and managed to find an Asus Z97-WS. Also got an MSI MPower Max AC (Z97) board, that I should probably stick on eBay, but they were hard to find at the time.

Oops sorry I meant I want to pick up an 11900k, once Alder Lake's released. My bad. :0)
