Headphones wont work after RAM installation

my friend has a dell prebuilt gaming pc and has gone from 1 stick of 8gb of ram to 2x8GB of vengeance ram and now his audio to his headset won't work at all. does anyone know of any issues?

Try removing the RAM stick to verify that it's what causes the issue.

I've never heard of a problem like that myself...

Could some internal connecting cable have been disturbed while the ram was installed?

Could be a couple of things. What happened to me once, was that on-board audio got disabled in BIOS after installing new hardware (yes, prebuilts have VERY dumb BIOSses sometimes...). So that's worth a check if the cables all look fine.
