what nvidia ampere card are you buying

curious to see what people are planning on upgrading to this holiday.

3070 or 3080. Won't be buying immediately though, probably waiting till March/April.

Debating between 3090 and 3080. 3080 would be more than enough for gaming but I am sure the number crunching of that 3090 would be pretty useful.

Personally waiting for AMD, maybe we get a 'Super' release again form Nvidia to edge out competition. If not I would bet on a 3080Ti coming in the future, I would likely wait for that. There's an obvious market pricing gap that Nvidia will want to fill.

 

3070 looks good for my current specs though. A 3080 (possibly 3080Ti) would require a new monitor. Personally I am holding out on what I would consider my perfect monitor so if that becomes available then I would want the GPU to drive it. But I am still waiting on that. And a 3080 is way more than I would require, although the Cuda Cores would be massively beneficial it's not like I would suffer if I used a 3070, after all my 1080Ti is still a work horse.

I'll try to snatch a cheap 2080ti. It'll be worse for games than a 3070, so it'll probably resale for cheap.

 

Perfect for me since all I want is more vram and those extra cuda cores. It'll sit along nicely with my 2060S.

Won't be upgrading personally, since I upgraded last generation.

If I hadn't upgraded though, I'd be waiting for AMD to hopefully release some sort of 3070 competitor with more VRAM, or just wait for Nvidia to bring out the higher VRAM 3070Ti or whatever (not officially confirmed to be in the works, just rumours).

most probably a 3070, then decide on whether to get a 2nd 3070 or a 3060 when that arrives

3080 is also in the list, if it fits the bills

Until my 1080Ti really starts struggling with 1440p 144hz, I'll stick with it. My next GPU upgrade will probably end up being a whole new system anyways

Most likely 3080 as the 3070 doesn't make much sense going from 1080ti. 

I would wait for AMD but I have GSync display so I will have to stick with NVIDIA. 

Unfortunately my monitor is old enough for it to not work on AMD with GSync.

I doubt we will get a super refresh seems like nvidia want to get rid of the TI and super naming.

I would be surprised if we got a Super card, but if AMD can offer competition then it certainly would not be out of the question. Considering there are already talks on a 3070Ti I would legitimately bet money on a 3080Ti as well. 3080 MSRP is $699, and the 3090 is $1,499, the 2080Ti was $1,199. There is no doubt in my mind that a card is waiting to exploit that $1k market gap. 

 

The only thing that would push a 'Super' refresh is AMD, to which I am doubtful. This gen seem to be a lot better with regards to $/performance and AMD is going to have to really show up. My predictions is that if we do not hear anything about AMD GPU's prior to the retail launch of these new Ampere cards is that Big Navi is not a direct competitor. If Big Navi can compete they would want that info in the wild ASAP to hold back potential buyers from Nvidia, even if this means they launch a month or two later they want that info out there. If AMD stays quiet I would think that means they do not have a competitive product with the high end Nvidia cards as per usual. If that is the case then I still believe a 3080Ti will be released, but like we saw with pascal and the 1080Ti it may take a year. The GTX 1080 launched in May of 2016, and the 1080Ti in March of 2017. So a long gap in between the two releases would not be out of the question.

Yeah maybe one thing for sure is they probably won't be a 3090ti because isn't it already the full chip so what else is there to improve on. I quess they could do slightly faster memory but that wouldn't warrant a refresh.

Unless AMD announces in the next 2 weeks, has better performance than the 3080 at the same price point, and releases at least a week before Cyberpunk 2077, I'll be getting the 3080.
