More games getting RTX support - Meh. don't really care.

 

Nvidia Reflex - Some way for game developers to make their games have lower latency - Sounds cool. Will see how it actually works before making any judgement.

 

Nvidia Broadcast - Game streaming program that lets you do stuff like layer multiple video inputs, effects, etc for game streaming - Looks nice. I wonder if it will only work on 20 and 30 series GPUs though, since it uses "Ai". Otherwise it will probably be a nice alternative to OBS.

 

Nvidia Omniverse machinima - Some program for creating machinima videos - Don't care.

 

 

RTX 30 series:

  • 28B transistors
  • Samsung 8nm process node.
     
  • 30 TFLOPS on the shaders.
  • 58 "RT-TFLOPS" (ray tracing TFLOPS?)
  • 238 TFLOPs on the Tensor cores.
     
  • 1.9x better performance per watt compared to Turing. So performance per watt has almost doubled!
  • Performance in 10 different games/benchmarks varies from ~55% higher to over 100% higher compared to Turing, at 4K, in Nvidia's own benchmarks.

  • "RTX IO" - Some new technology developed together with Microsoft to reduce CPU utilization. Not sure how or when it is applicable though.
     
  • GDDR6X with up to 760 GigaBYTES per seconds of bandwidth.
     
  • Weird ass cooler that was leaked earlier. "55% more airflow", "up to 3x quieter", "30% more efficient".
     
  • Twice the performance of the RTX 2080 (non Ti I guess).
