That guy reminds me of me with a lot less cussing. lol.

Unfortunately, I don't watch him much. I've seen lots of older videos though.

He's pretty smart dude. Much more experienced than I all day.

This is his life, this is my hobby. Just been doing it a while and keeping up on trends where interested.

As you'll see, maily cpu/mobo/ram section and trouble shooting section as well.

1 major issue here, no body reads stickies first :P (not talking about you there, just in general)

Saw this one on the forum a little while ago. Luckily I got a screenshot before mods took it down (still mad about that). All the responses were poop jokes and comments about how bad it would smell when it heats up.756BD516-AE20-42D9-A387-4DF07C5DA26C.jpeg.90ef76b2cfe94ba752e433656d8fe730.jpeg

Not really a PC related story but...

I remember back in middle school our school gave out personal Arduino uno boards to each student for a class

image.jpeg.187476f3939b913e690f77c41e938d76.jpeg

The thing was nobody cared about that class and all learning was done online so there was no teacher actually teaching us.

Then one class a friend of mine had an idea to fry everything on the board one by one

He started by frying each LED on the Arduino by using two wires from the breadboard causing it to short circuit.

Assuming he was not satisfied, he fried all the I/O pins by putting too much voltage on it.

Then he finished it off by using a 9V battery and hooking it up with the 5V pin causing the whole board to fry.

He came up to me after class looking proud showing off his masterpiece.

o?

Just created this forum account to contribute to this thread:

So I work in a middle sized company for charitable purposes (~700 employees and 3500 clients). At the time a small amount of people had laptops at all and even fewer had them for home office. So it was like a privilige for many.

One of the old bosses comes to my office complaining that his laptop was slow and he can't work with it. I told him that I would check for problems and will call him later that day. After booting it up I see that his storage was basically full and nothing could properly load. So one treesize run later and I'm seeing all these photos and videos in a Windows Movie Maker folder. It was porn. Completely full with porn photos and videos of HIMSELF in women lingerie or at various stages of undressing. After calling him in, I just showed him the folder and asked if he had a backup before I deleted them all from the company laptop... I don't think I'll ever be able to delete that out of my head.

When we were in college, my wife (then girlfriend) and I worked in the school bookstore.

One Friday, a woman with enormous "assets" came in to get her books. We'd seen her in the store before, but this time she mentioned to my girlfriend that her PC was getting super slow. We could use the money at the time (starving college kids etc) so my girlfriend told her that her boyfriend (me duh) could fix it for her for like $50.

She gave the laptop to my girlfriend and said she needed it back by Monday for class or w/e, so my girlfriend gave her our address so she could come pick it up.

The laptop wasn't in too bad shape. Typical stuff. Lot's of random startup programs and browser extensions. Probably took me an hour to get it working nicely.

But on her desktop I found pictures from her surgery. The one that gave her such large "assets". Including the bandages coming off. Pretty disgusting tbh so I obviously had to tell my girlfriend about what I found because it was just too funny lol.

Later that day when she came to pick up the laptop, my girlfriend was away at some kind of conference, so it was just her and I alone. Pretty awkward... but she paid me.

My girlfriend (now wife) still doesn't know whether or not I slept with that woman. lol.

Encountered the same, except client was a priest...

I did have one rather amusing tale, from a client who I thought knew better.

She was pretty computer savvy so rarely called, but she'd been transferred to a new office and the CD player in her new machine wasn't working right, said it made a grinding noise when the cd was inserted into the slot.

We went around a few questions and it sounded like it was one of those old tray loading cd-roms, and the tray had been broken (she admitted she had to fiddle with it to get the cd-rom in)

So I grabbed a fresh new one and drove down to her new office.

There, buried (and I mean buried) under piles of paperwork, was an ancient IBM desktop, complete with a 5 and 1/4 floppy disk drive.

Turns out she'd been cutting open floppy disks, inserting the cd-rom into the sleeve, and trying to make it work in the 5.25" drive.

Yes, it did technically fit, but that was it.

The system (and this was in the c2d era days mind you) was a 486 with just floppy drives.

if that ever happens to any of you, you can carefully clean your components with soap and water and maybe a soft brush after removing the CMOS battery and all heatsinks with thermal pads. if you rinse it very well and dry it completely it'll all be as good as new as long as you don't damage the thermal pads.

I also have a story of my own. A while ago my bro had just gotten a brand new iPhone 4, and while he was at a party at a friend's apartment he lent it to a friend to check Facebook. He than proceeded to drop  the phone from the balcony at a height of about 100 feet. needless to say it was 100% dead, but miraculously neither the screen or the glass back shattered in the impact, but the phone itself was bent in half. The friend wanted to "fix" it, which was next to impossible. My bro's boss ended up getting him an even newer iPhone 4S after he told him the story. It was very nice of him.
