No, I have 13 GPUs (5 x 2070S, 2070A, 2060S, 2060, 1070Ti, & 2 1060 6GB) spread across 7 systems

I run them at home and pay for my own electricity.

 

I don't believe that @Den-Fi has started using the Mercenaries (cloud) yet so they're likely running what they have at home so far as well. But if some people ( @rodarkone ) keep things up that may very well change.

Don't get me wrong, what I wrote was not a rant but more towards admiration. I myself am having to deal with all the parsec-ing between 3 systems and fiddling with all the different settings and OC's and what not and I sometimes don't follow my own advice "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", so I can only imagine what's it like to manage.. say maybe... 10, 20, 40 small systems.

I do not fold using cloud services. My electric bill confirms this.

Not taken as such. Were all contributing what we can and 90% of our points come from many such folks with only a GPU and CPU to help out. That's the beauty of Distributed Computing.

Yup I know the feeling. At least you can off-set with some solar.

 

Now that we're starting into the heating season here at least I can ramp things up a bit and hope I'm getting a bit of offset on my Natural Gas heating bill from the 2kW space heater in the basement.

He did say that he might be getting a USED ThreadRipper System. I don't know for sure, but if that ends up being cheaper, I would say he should definitely go with that. Depending on how crazy he gets with the number of GPU's he may eventually end up wanting to put in it. The 24 core ThreadRipper system would likely be easier to add more GPU's to early on, and would have potential to have a ton more with all the bifricatioin stuff. The only potential disadvantage I see would be the somewhat higher power draw, and I don't really know how important single threaded performance is. Even leaving off 10 whole cores for helping manage the GPU WU's, that leaves 14 cores, 28 threads, and that can do a pretty good amount of folding.

I'd estimate about 10-15% across the board. Little difficult to tell as the nVME vm disk in my ESXi NUC died and being the IT professional I am I hadn't backed up those systems so I'm only now getting my Monitoring system back on-line.

 

This is the first SSD I've ever had fail and it's an Intel 6-series so while it still has some warranty it's not worth it.

My 5700 XTs has seen quite a larger bump than 15%.

Some systems literally doubled.

I'm old and my reaction times are shot and I got tired of being endlessly being fragged by teenage hormones ampped up on Red Bull.

 

My kids, however, got the 5700xts and upgrades to their gaming rigs when I decided trying to manage NVidia and AMD GPUs was not worth the effort.

i run everything on site here, as my power bill also confirms this - i do have a ton of hardware though.

 

seriously though listen to @Gorgon i have alot of those exact rigs and they work flawless just dont cheap on the PUS's and 750 watt PSU's are cutting it too close go 850's.
