Nope, you're good to close after applying! As far as I'm aware this adjusts the same profiles used by the nvidia control center, so the driver will handle it for you.

I did just start a different WU, but that is a ton more significant of a change than can be attributed to WU to WU Variance. 

 

Having a 3900x, my CPU has about a 1min 45 second TPF (PPD of 218K), So that is not an insignificant potential (that's folding at 21 threads). I also have my laptop folding, but it has an i5 3320M (2 core 4 thread w/ all cores boosting to 3ghz), so it has an 11min 33 sec TPF (Current reading, varies), does about 1 WU Per day (if that sometimes), and gets 5k-7k PPD, so it is relatively minor in its contribution.

Well I am running a "Burnin" on a Precision T5820 with a 10900X and Nvidia P2200 this P2200 is so Powerful it will wipe the RTX3090 off the leaderbord... esp yours @yaboistar /s

AFAIK Greenwich borough(a physical place) observes BST like the rest of the UK, you are thinking of GTM, Greenwich Mean Time(GMT) which is not a physical place but is in fact a timezone

Ope' you are correct! When I put the time into timeanddate.com I removed my city thinking that it would still default to CST, it did not. It went to UTC.

Err never mind i was incorrect but correct at the same time i was looking for GMT and got BST which is what i actually wanted anyways...

The important thing is, the time is correct!

 

going to be interesting how confused you all get when the time shifts an hour for the updates. We is tradition with folding month, the updates are conducted at 00:00 British time, whatever timezone we are using.

Yeah..... So I think @cbigfoot is correct with his timer? That would put CST at -6 BST? Can we just abolish time changes? So many headaches, could you imagine having to program something time sensitive with all these time zones? I think there is a Tom Scott video about it somewhere.

Fine with me, canary islands are gmt also, and we change the clocks at the same time as the UK

Question.... Because I don't know any better. 

 

Is there any reason (points wise) to only fold on GPU and not on CPU? Is FAH smart enough to give the GPU any bandwidth it needs from the CPU and then just make up the rest with CPU folding?

The cpu can steal points from the gpu, I'm not sure if it's based on total cpu usage or because the program is trying to run 2 folds on 1 core.

That's what I kind of suspected. I looked and my TPF went up after I started CPU folding, but I was also on a new WU so there's that.

It seems to be something that has come up since the CUDA update, as before you could just leave a core per GPU and it would be fine

It's not something I've dived deep into, but your right. I didn't notice any issues before the update as long as I made sure to leave enough cpu headroom so it wasn't hitting 100% usage. Now I think there may be an issue with work allocation, folding at home might sometimes be folding on a core that is executing the folding on a gpu, and nerfing it somewhat.

 

Edit: or it's possible that gpu folding required so little cpu power before the update that any nerfing wasn't noticeable, and the cpu folding more than made up for any losses.

My output is maxed out so I expect to slowly slid down.
