LTT Official Folding Month 2020!!!

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Luckily when I said it was almost done, I really meant it.

For the last time in 2020, ladles and gentlespoons, here a blog post.

And with that said, it's a wrap! Thank you for everyone getting involved, if you'd like to continue talking about folding why not head over to The Folding Community Board

i wonder how well these cards would compare to the Nvidia counterparts, since we just got that big CUDA update and all.

Well we will see if the 3070 does good i may replace @jctappel67's old 2060 with a 3070 as bender will continue to be my full time folder and if i can boost performance for similar wattage its worth it as long as its 2x+

Not upgrading regardless, but I hope AMD finally has a good winner on their side in the high end, it'll help push old gen Nvidia cards even lower so I can pick them up to hopefully beat @Den-Fi next year.

LOL... I'm convinced currently Den-Fi is the Nvidia AI project.   We can't compete with that.

I did mention that a few pages back how they are a AI using their computational power for the good of humanity.

Tho, I'm more worried now that they are trying to help us so they can learn more about us before taking over the world in 2031 in the next pandemic.

They peaked at 80 millionish per 24 hours, so I would need 40 1080 Tis to exceed them on daily. I wouldn't waste resources to try to beat their points in a single year, however assuming they drop down to 25 millionish like in Sept I could potentially pass them with the 40 1080 Tis in about 4 months total points wise 😉

They should have worded it that way. The way they worded it was the way I interpreted it.

"Linus Tech Tips, a hobbyist YouTube channel for home system builders with 12 million followers"

vs

"Linus Tech Tips, a YouTube channel for home system building hobbyists with 12 million followers"

One word in different spots 2 completely different meanings, they said a hobbyist Youtube channel, which LTT is not. Once there is a for put into the sentence everything before goes towards everything after it.

How about a 10B folding badge? As graphics cards evolve over the next couple years, it might be pretty obtainable.

They won't do it because we at the top are insignificant.

There will most probably be changes to badges in some way in the near future

What those changes will be is yet to be decided

imo the most logical course of action would be to shift the requirements for each badge according to the team's new general output. tough that might be a lot of work and i dunno how feasable that would be.

So you're suggesting they handle badge thresholds like Bitcoin network difficulty and rewards.  LOL

Which I understand... but that means the legacy badges... or say... coins... have a changingvalue of points on the current... say...  the market.

Edit the badge topic, legacy users keep their current badges and can't upgrade till they pass beyond that point.

Or still edit the badge topic and do what Bitcoin did and split, but unlike Bitcoin don't reissue the new badges, and unlike Bitcoin once you request the new badge you lose your old one.

Personally... on the badge front... I think what you got is the right idea, cause for people on one card, or casually doing this... it's still gonna take a long time.

For the Den-Fi types... why not the Mythic Badge with a number in the corner for the number of times they got it... like rewards in games and stuff.

Which would make the admins maybe happy... cause it just goes in the existing "reason for badge" copy.
Or you could just go to their stats... cause Big points numbers, such wow!

So the current plan is to shit the badge requirements, with anyone currently holding a badge to be grandfather in, other than this, theres no exact time for the change or point values yet decided.

It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that further badges will be added, it's possible, but unlikely
