CPU Waterblock doesn't sit flush with the thumbscrews below?

I don't know if this is normal but as you can see from the pic there is a gap between the block and the screws below..

Is this normal? Thanks

Probably. As long as your using the correct standoffs for the socket you have, the force applied to the block will be generated via the springs. You put the springs on, then the thumb screws screw those down until the thumbscrew fully bottoms out. That is the clamping force needed, no reason for the block mounting hardware to sit on the standoffs. I would look at my block, but I can't really see it at the right angle in my case...... But I see now issue with this, no.

Yes that is normal because you will be topping that off with a set of stiff springs and thumb screws which will apply the needed downwards pressure. The small gap is good for allowing very minor differences in height between different setups.

If there was no gap you would never be able to put any pressure on the cpu with the block.

The compression of the springs limits the clamping pressure.  The block itself doesn't "bottom out" on anything.

(Actually it's the depth of the thumb screw threads that is really what limits it)
