undervolting

Noob872

I have a single fan gtx 1650 super and a pretty hot room, around 25 to 27c. Under load my gpu hovers around 77 c and 78 with a very small overlcock of 50 on the core and 100 on the memory. i wanted to know how i can undervolt a gpu, and how much of a differecne it could make to my temps, and if it cause any long term or short term damage or performance loss.

Thanks

What do you mean by under volting?? If your gpu gets to hot when it is overclocked then don’t overclock it. If it is still to hot not overclocked then undervolt. Undervolting cant damage the gpu, maybe it can lower performance, and cause stability issues.

Even without the overlock it is at 75, i want to get that too 70 if i can. Can you link a video or teach me how to undervolt my gpu.

If you are moving rooms soon then there is no reason to go through the pain of undervolting and causing system instability.

basically just slide the slider for voltage to the left little by little until you run into problems

open msi afterburner. ctrl+f. adjust frequency voltage sliders to set higher clock at lower voltage. Make sure load profile at startup is disabled before you begin.
E: Bitwit made a video about undervolting this week, shows using the tool.

I believe you can also just adjust the power slider to get the same result. I personally prefer adjusting the voltage curve with ctrl+f, but it can be super tedious.

doing that just adds a positive offset to the whole curve, doesn't do the same thing.

yeah, it tends to become a tradeoff of speed for temps. As Sorenson said tedious, but the more cooling limited you are the more useful it becomes to do
