Is there a way to reduce HDR brightness ?

Coolday

I have the monitor AG273QCX and when I enable HDR in windows the display become very bright and brightness and contrast controls become disabled in OSD so is there a way to reduce brightness and keep using HDR at the same time ?

the point of HDR is high max brightness and lower minimum brightness. lowering brightness while HDR is turned on basically undo's the HDR effect. thats why its disabled.

just lower the brightness in control panel, i'd take lower brightness hdr over sdr all day.

Quoting myself because this IS the answer you seek so you don't need to turn off HDR.

Chose to ignore it, or chose to utilize it.  It seems most of the commenters here have NEVER once used this control panel built into Windows 10, so here you go.  This is how I adjust the SDR content brightness, without affecting HDR content.  This is how you're supposed to do it.  And at least one commenter clearly didn't even read OP's original post, so how thoughtful.  :)

I did not get it . Do you mean this slide

Does HDR even make any sense then? I use my SDR monitors close to minimum brightness already.

I've been messing around with HDR to SDR codecs, for which I maxed the brightness, but even that 370 max brightness hurt my eyes pretty fast...
