Can't update to Windows 10 2004 via Update Assitant or Media Creation Tool

YamiYukiSenpai

When I tried to update to Windows 10 2004 (I wanna give WSL2 a go), I get stuck at 99% & 31% with Update Assistant & Media Creation Tool, respectively.

Any idea what I should fix?

I had a similar issue where it would end up crashing and reverting back. I solved it by reformatting WITH 2004... thankfully my OS drives have nothing of importance on them so it’s relatively easy for me to do. Most are not in the same situation. I am not really sure what else you can try :/

When you get stuck at the Media Creation Tool, is that when making an upgrade drive, or while trying to upgrade your computer?

Honestly, I'd recommend staying away from 2004 for now.  Every time Microsoft releases a new build, it has major problems that need to be worked out, and 2004 is no exception.  If you really want it though, my first suggestion would be to run Disk Cleanup as administrator and delete all the Windows Update stuff.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

i'll suggest to you to either wait or install it on a second drive or something, 2004 is still quite buggy and i had a bunch of issues until i went back to 1909 so i'd stay away for now.

I think I gave that a whirl a few weeks back, but I can't remember.  I'll try that again.
