Recommended Post on Welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forum! topic

Is there any chance there could be a pinned comment, solution, or whatever other method there is to have a note shown at the top of a topic on the welcome to the forum post? I think it would be a good idea to have one there that explains some of the basic things about the forum that are not commonly known by new members such as quoting, tagging, and what each section is for. I see many new members go there first and it would help educate them and hopefully lead to less posts in the wrong sections.

In case my explanation did not make sense, something like this but with important information for new members:

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

There is already a dedicated FAQ thread in the Forum Information section. If there's anything in particular that you think may be helpful then we can look at including it in the FAQ.

Unfortunately it's unlikely to help with people posting in the wrong section. The subforums are already pretty self explanatory (ie. Posts about graphics cards go in the Graphics Cards section, posts about headphones goes in the Audio section, etc). Really can't make it any clearer.

If new members arent reading the titles for the subforums or the community guidelines, they wont read an FAQ either.

I did not know that existed. That has pretty much everything I was looking for and more. Would it be possible to add a section about quoting in there and say how to do it, to not quote images, and snip long quotes? Could a link to that be made the recommended response in the welcome to the forum topic?

I meant a general “don’t post everything in general discussion, there are specific sub forums for different things and look through to make sure you post yours in the right spot” type message.

THIS^^^^^^

Then again, there's long time members who still do this. Makes me wish I was a mod so I could just edit their post real quick.
