Software to make NAS from old PC for security camera's

Been thinking about getting 2 security camera's and all the affordable options require either subscriptions (nest) or back up to Chinese servers (xiaomi).

So I'm wondering what is the best software I can put on an old PC to make it a storage device for security camera's?

Look into FreeNas,heard good things about ZoneMinder though I'm not sure if it's what you need, haven't used it myself and not too familiar with how it works.

if its something like a core 2 duo with 2gb of ram freenas will be painful i asked specs to recommend a good software

Yeh haven't found it yet but I believe it's an old Dell with an i3 and 4GB of ram and a 750GB HDD.

Been looking at ispy and kerberos.

But the ZoneMinder looks doable too.

Or is there another way to make an NVS out of an old desktop to storage camera imagery locally.
