RAID 5 not showing in Server 2016

Hi Guys

I have an OLD Dell Poweredge 2900 server.

I am messing around with it and trying to set up a Raid 5 array. I followed this guide on how to make a R5 array but when I boot into Server 2016 no drives show? I have check disk management to see if they are active or not, but I only have the C:\\ Drive

Any tips?

Thanks

George

did you partition the drives?

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

You'll need to install the RAID card drivers before ti'll show up

Ah, kinda makes sense.

I have checked device manager and all drivers seem to be up to date.

i take it the drivers will be on Dells website for this server?

how do I find out the raid controllers name etc?

thanks

Should be on their website yes, although you should see something under 'Storage Controllers' in Device Manager.

Yours should be a Dell PERC 5i, unless it's been changed for a newer one.

The storage controllers say it’s up to date?

There should be Windows software to configure the RAID card, have a look for that and install it. If it's not showing up then it has to be something to do with the array configuration or it's not actually saving the configuration.

HP Array Configuration Utility https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_4effd70562304a50b3be5c4b96

But yeah you shouldnt need it, if the drives arent showing up and your card is active, then its probably your virtual disk configuration.

leadeater is probably just recommending this as you can better diagnose and investigate your array configuration without having to back out to bios.

What drive did you install windows to?

A hardware raid is NOT going to show all the drives in windows.  A logical drive is presented to the system from the RAID bios.
