I believe my gpu is underperforming

I have a GTX 1070 paired with a Ryzen 5 1600 and dual stick 16gb Corsair vengeance LPX DDR4 ram and an Asrock b450 Steel legend motherboard. My frame rate in gpu heavy games like Rainbow Six Siege only get around 190fps max depending on the map. Most of the time it just jumps around from 150 to 115fps all the way down to possibly 90fps. I don’t believe this is normal. I have a Zotac 1070 which I believe come overclocked.

dude its normal, maybe some effects like explotion can cause the frame rate jump from 150 to 115.

Sounds fine to me, too. Although a CPU slightly weaker on single-thread performance like a Ryzen 5 1600 will definitely yield a somewhat worse result when FPS is that high than, say a 10900K. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Sounds normal but if you want, run some benchmarks and compare your scores to that of other systems with similar specs.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Quote or tag me so I can see your response

no, this seems perfect normal to me.

What resolution settings, what graphics presets?

I normally run 1920x1080 with the very high graphics preset on siege. I've seen benchmarks of other people's performance with the same specs and I've never seen it dip all the way down to 90 fps. I'm a lil on the dumber side so feel free to criticize whatever I say lol.

Upgrade to 3600 and faster ram if you want more average FPS.
