Idiot Question: How do you mount/put Windows on a USB drive to install onto computer?

Do you just drag and drop?

 

I am also doing this on Mac (I have some devices).

 

I found something saying that you should format it one way (FOT32) and stuff, so I formatted the USB drive to FOT32.

 

I don't know what to do.

The website will walk you through the install process. and it will format the USB drive for you before it installs the tool.

 

So save any data you have on the drive first.

IE if you are going to load a MB BIOS file or something.

 

and I think it is FAT32 file system, not FOT32.

The easiest way would be using the Windows Media Creation Tool, but you'd have to go into Bootcamp to run it, since afaik it doesn't run on macOS.

Though formatting the thumb drive to FAT32 and copying all the necessary files you downloaded onto it will also probably work.

you can't do that because you no longer need to install WIndows to a USB stick.

That was just the first result of a search, there are other guides that use the command line. Balena Etcher might work too.

I tried one of the command line ones (forgot which one).

 

I got an error message and couldn't move past that.
