I need a mic, have no clue what to get

Gohardgrandpa

Currently using Phillips sph9500 headphones connected to a Astro mix amp pro that connects to my pc with a optical audio cable.

I love the headphones, so much better sounding then the Astro a40’s I had but I need a mic to pair with these and have no clue what to get.

I mainly use the headphones to play siege, dead by daylight and discord chat with my buddies. I’d like something that sounds good but I don’t want to spend $100 on a mic. For my usage what do you suggest I look into getting?

No cpu mobo or ram atm

2tb wd black gen 4 nvme

2tb seagate hdd

Corsair rm750x

Be quiet 500dx

Gigabyte m34wq 3440x1440

Xbox series x

I bought a used Snowball off of eBay for less than $40 and get nothing but compliments on its sound.

It is USB so that might mean no go for you.

I also use VoiceMeeter to reduce background noise though I don't have it setup to adjust my voice.  I have the input set to -10 dB.

The AntLion ModMic is a pretty good bet. I use it myself without issues.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I’m not gonna fall down that rabbit hole. I’ll end up spending a ton of cash on a mic when I really don’t need to. I appreciate the link and I read thru it, tons of good knowledge there but total overkill for what I’m doing

Again, there is information on there about good USB mics too and what to avoid.

A Modmic Uni would be great. Use the Mixamp with usb and your good to go.

PC Audio Setup = Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm and Sennheiser pc37x (also for xbox) hooked up to Schiit Fulla 3

If you just want to use your headphones as a headset you can add a V-MODA BoomPro. It will replace the SHP9500 wire and is better sounding than the modmic.

I can’t find one in stock. I'll probably wait to get one of those to try out. $30 is a lot better then falling down the rabbit hole and spending a shit load of cash when I don’t need too
