Resolution and refresh rate issues with new XPS 9500

Hey,

I've just received my new XPS 9500 (i7 6 cores, 1650 ti, 4K model), and I'm trying to connect it to two 4K monitors (Dell U2718Q) through Dell's docking station (Thunderbolt Dock WD19TB 180W). Both monitors are connected to the dock using DisplayPort to DisplayPort, supporting up to 8K 60hz or 4K 120hz.

The problem is that I'm getting 4K 30hz on one, and up to 1080P in the other. The best combination I was able to reach is 2K 60hz in one and 1080P 60hz in the other. When I'm going to "advanced display settings" I just don't have the option to set more than 30hz if I'm setting a resolution higher than 1080P.

It's worth noting that I'm using the exact same setup with Surface Laptop 3 and I'm getting both screens 2K with 60hz, which is enough for me, but I can't even get that with the XPS 15 9500.

The dock: https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-thunderbolt-dock-wd19tb/apd/210-arik/pc-accessories

The monitors: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Ultrasharp-U2718Q-27-Inch-Monitor/dp/B073VYVX5S

The computer: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/laptops/new-15/spd/xps-15-9500-laptop

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Are you sure that a 1650ti can drive that much 'image'...?

EDIT:

I'd reckon on a 1650 running flat out to give 4K/60, to be honest...

I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have added.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

If you're daisy-chaining, that's probably the reason. You're bandwidth starved. Try each monitor separately.

It works separately, but not together, my setup is two monitors, not one. Considering it works with Surface Laptop 3, I find it hard to believe you can't use two 2K monitors with XPS 15. Isn't it?

Maybe the 1650 ti is not selected? it works in IRIS+ with my Surface Laptop 3

You're saying that as if the XPS models aren't known for bugs and problems.

My best guess is Dell have a 2-lane TB3 port.

Because the Surface Laptop is not riddled with bugs and broken firmware. Could be that Dell's BIOS/drivers/software is fucked.
