Ryzen 4000 IPC boost could be around 20%

Summary

Some rurmors have been circulating, and a leaker called "Ice Universe" is saying that AMD has stated that there could be a 15-17% IPC boost for Ryzen 4000 from Ryzen 3000. The leaker seems to have a solid track record for smartphone leaks, according to wcctech, but little for other platforms. Internal tests show it beats Intel.

Quotes

Quote

"Apparently, AMD is claiming around 15% to 17% better IPC (instructions per clock) with its next-gen CPUs"

My Thoughts

I'll like to see how this will play out for the gaming side. If this will beat Rocket Lake before it comes out, there might be a chance that AMD might come out on top for gaming, on low-, mid-, and even high-end for once. If true, this will certify AMD's place on top for multi-core/thread applications.

EDIT:Yes I know this is a leak from may, but I didn't see anything on the fourm about it so I decided to convey the leak/rurmors.

I could use some help with this!

If this is true, Intel is doomed (unless they also have a similar performance boost coming soon)

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Yeah, they are doing great now, but what will be the real test is if they are able to continue to make large improvements in the absence of competition. If they can, then they are the true lord. Intel decided to do the opposite and stop innovation for years, and AMD has brought the golden-age of innovation back. May AMD's prices be fair and their improvements be large so that everyone can get the powerful processor they deserve.

Yeah. My build planned this fall went from probably a 3000 to definetly a 4000. Intel can't stop the AMD. Intel may lose their only advantage. GAMING.

they haven't when it comes to IPC

intel's already being matched and the fall launches don't look to be good for them. AMD has a way to go on launch stability sure but given the final silicon (unless they need to update it) looks to be in testing now a late 2020 launch should be stable.

yeah, they have defeated intel (mostly for now) but nvidia is still more robust in maturity and features.

This looks to be about on par with Ice Lake in terms of IPC.

Tiger Lake/Rocket Lake will be interesting. I'm expecting a bit of a boost over ICL, but I expect TGL/RKL to NOT clock as high as CML.

Also at this point I'm sick of lake codenames. Most of these should be the EXACT SAME NAME.

SKL = KBL = CML in terms of IPC and while there are tweaks, I've seen PIII stepping with bigger IPC lifts and core changes.

This is over 15% above Ice Lake. Currently, Renoir mobile leads Ice Lake by 7% as tested by notebookcheck (in terms of IPC).

As for the l am, 15% was the original targe and from what I'm hearing, AMD have reached it and are aiming higher for final release. Don't expect higher clocks than Zen 2 though. It'll be a pure IPC uplift
