maybe get a lower wattage psu? that's if you're not planning on going SLI in the future. you should be okay with a quality 500W psu and still be able to oc your cpu and gpu

and definitely try and get an ssd :D

EDIT:

Here's a review link for the Cooler Master GX650 Bronze. I think you can find some better stuff out there at the same price-point. There are also some comments from users there i think though i wouldn't take them too seriously since user comments tend to vary quite a bit at times :) Safe route -> reviews.

And here are some other PSUs i can think of: XFX Pro 650W Core Edition (i wanted to buy that one), beQuiet! L8 630W (i bought the 530W version for like 61 euros... really really quiet, case fans are bothering me now, and it's semi-modular - case looks a bit tidier)

As a tip, i think it's always best to read multiple reviews on the components you pick, just to be sure everything goes smooth in the end :)

Going to search for a ssd and a good 500 watt psu.

You might want to consider the 660ti, 670 or 7950 for better gaming performance at almost the same price point.

Current build: Antec P180, Asus P8Z68 Pro, Intel i5-2500k, Asus GTX 570 2GB, Patriot 16GB 1600MHz, Corsair HX 650W.

New build: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/11270-video-editing-workstation-build/

I would look in to it

is the corsair CX 500WATT a better psu?

edit:

the 660ti, 670 or 7950 are a more than €100,- expensive

@niekster: Saw some posts about the CX models being overrated by  100W or so... and not that many reviews (i think none) on the 500W model. Maybe you can post the link of the site where you wanna buy your components from and give us an idea of what your price-range is for the PSU :) I think i kind of avoided these PSUs because of the lack of reviews and feedback on them, even if they're from corsair.

@Raptus: Yeah, the Ti is 240 as well in my area but the non-ti is 160, so quite a difference there...

the TOP edition is €205 and the ti is like €300.

so that is like €100 differents that is don't really know of it is worth it.

edit:

The site that i use is mycom.nl it is a dutch site but i think it is not the cheapest one.

i will set al links by de prosucts that i would use in the mean post

Okay niekster, i did some research on what's available in the NL and this is what i came up with. I kept the Corsair CX500 on the list, though personally, due to the complete lack of reviews and it being an entry-level PSU, i wouldn't pick it. Other than that the be quiet! is too expensive for what it's actually worth and then there are the Seasonic and XFX PSUs. I'd say go for the Seasonic PSUs first, then consider the XFX one (even though it's a rebranded Seasonic)

Name                          Review                                                     Price

Corsair CX500(M)      RealHardTechX (none to be found)          Tweakers

Seasonic S12II 520    RealHardTechX                                        Tweakers

Seasonic M12II 520   RealHardTechX                                         Tweakers

XFX Pro 550              RealHardTechX                                         Tweakers

Tweakers comparisson link

Hope this helps in choosing your PSU :) I got my beQuiet! PSU 15 euros cheaper by using a price comparison website and shipping was free from a 50 euro order :D

if this is going to be a gaming PC then a GTX660ti is a better choice than a SSD. so if you have the budget for a SSD then put it in to a better Graphics Card. you will thank me later.

the corsair CX500 is a amazing PSU. i have one powering my 2500k @4.6GHz that draws about 120W and a overclocked HD6870. not sure about the Wattage on that. but i know its a lot. and i have 4HHD and a SSD all running on that CX500. so its a solid PSU.

You could take a Seagate Barracuda would be cheaper than the WD. With a Z75 board you could overclock your CPU a little bit. The rest is alright.

@amintha1992:Well i wasn't saying the CX500 is a bad PSU or anything, it's Corsair. But it's an entry-level PSU with absolutely no reviews to be found. Even searching forums you get mixed opinions on it... some will say it's all good, some will complain about coil whine bad caps or lower wattage than specified.

So what i was saying is that given the small price difference i would rather go with a PSU that's been evaluated up close by a few reviewers out there  :)

@kyuubi654

I take the XFX Pro 550 as psu.

@amintha1992

I would look if it fit in my budged the 660TI

@rossi94

I will stay with the WD because it is a great HD and fast

do i need a better cooling system?

i was just wondering

Depends niekster, do you plan on using the OC Genie feature of the motherboard or better yet overclocking on your own? If yes, you need to expect higher temperatures from your components and yes some extra cooling would be welcome :)

Given that you have an i5 CPU on your list i'm confident a CM Hyper 212 Evo would do a good job in cooling it. Here's a link: CM Hyper 212 Evo

I've read posts from users that said they managed a 4.0 or higher overclock on both AMD and Intel CPUs, but i'm not sure how far your motherboard will get you (maybe some other users can give you a better idea).

Since the 660 is a DCII it should have adequate cooling capabilities and the R4 should already have 2 or 3 pre-installed fans that should generate enough airflow inside the case (unless they're too loud for you there's probably no reason to change them).

That's my 2 cents :)

P.S: I'm all green with envy ^^ Need to get off my lazy ass and put together some money for a nice build -.-

The r4 have 2 really quiet fans so i do not think it is necenssarely to change them. (and a switch that lets you control the voltech)

I will ad the CM Hyper 212 Evo to my list of things that i want so that i have some better cooling for the cpu.

Don't really know of i'm going to overclock the CPU and the XTG 660 TOP is already overclockt so I don't have to overclock him feather.

@kyuubi654

good luck with your build :D

1. Try to get an SSD
2. Try to change the i5-3470 with a i5-3570 ,or 3570k (if you plan overclocking)

oh right... the K factor for easier overclocking -.- overlooked that. further investigating needed :)

EDIT1: Apparently only P67, Z68, Z75 and Z77 can adjust CPU clock multipliers. -> Pairing the B75 with an unlocked Ivy Bridge won't lead to any kind of overclocking on the multiplier side. (Looking into the BCLK overclocking part now)

chipset-chart.png

EDIT2: Found a user on another forum who said the OC Genie feature on his MSI-B75MA motherboard only allowed him to access the integrated GPU settings. So apparently it really doesn't offer that much in regards to overclocking(PR gimmick?). As for changing the 3470 to a 3570... that's a 200mhz increase hardly worth the 13 bucks since i doubt it's gonna make that much of a difference.

so if I want to overclock my cpu i will need a other motherboard.

is there a motherboard in the same price rance that can  overclock my cpu?

edit:

is the MB MSI Z68MA-ED55 a good one?

Reading this Tweaktown review of the MSI Z68MA-ED55. Just looking at the overclocking possibilities, it (a 2600K) goes to 4.2Ghz with one press of the OC Genie II button and a whopping 5.09 with hands-on overclocking.

EDIT: Overall TweakTown Rating: 93%
