But when is the next gen cards? Because i have 2k screen and i am using r9 390x

that would be in about 2 months from now on. you can expect at the very least the 3080 and above to be released. athough.. specs for the 3070/ti have also been released meaning perhaps they will also release then. so.. if you can wait you should. and yet people always joke about waiting and then waiting more but there is a difference between 2 months and 1 year :P i personally am happy with my 2070 super. but knowing nvidia they always release something more months later. but ill probably wait and get an rtx 4000 series :)

point being.. wait. then see if prices drop for a 2070 super which they will. or get a 3070 and enjoy a nice perf bump over the 5700xt and 1080ti. since you are using a "2k" monitor this will be the better bet for you. since you will certainly profit from a much better gpu that will only release in a few weeks over these "older" ones.

Hello guys. I bought a 2k monitor 165 hz

And i am looking for good gpu to Handel it with good price range

I found these options : 1080ti and 5700xt

I've seen some benchmarks that the 1080 ti is better at 2k but in the other hand i read some reviews saying that the 5700xt update gonna make it preform better later. And the 5700xt has good new features.

So i am completely lost

What should i get? I really need as much frames as possible in this price range

Well both will easily handle a 1440p panel.

What are they both priced at ?

A 1080ti is close to the 2080/super. So it is faster than a 5700xt. But it doesn't come with warranty as its used. If you can wait. Then I suggest waiting for ampere and big Navi. But if you had to decide between these two. 1080ti will perform better.

5700xt will perform good and will come with warranty. But will be slightly behind the 1080ti.

I'd probably get the 5700XT.

The 1080Ti is over 3 years old, performs only about 5-10% better than the 5700XT (in gaming), pulls even more power and it comes with no warranty.

1080TI is ~10% faster than the 5700xt at 1440p.

But, with the 5700xt you'll get warranty and most likely longer support, as Nvidia will probably start facing out the Pascal cards in their driver optimization once the 3000 series comes out.

Nvidia always maintains 4 generations of support, so 7th gen is still receiving optimizations. 10th gen will only get axed after another 2 releases from 3000

Well if I remember correctly. Before the super lineup was a thing it was always compared to the 2080 and the difference wasn't huge. But the super lineup did change a couple of things. So I guess I'll have to revisit this again lol :D.

Imho 5700xt unless there’s a specific feature not the 1080 you need like CUDA.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

The 5700 XT is the better buy. It's basically the same speed for modern games and the RX has a warranty. The 1080 To is already old and isn't receiving as many driver optimizations and hence it won't be as good as possible in upcoming games. Not to mention the 1080 To uses a lot more power, runs hotter and is not likely to last as long as a new card. You also don't know if it's been abused it overheated.

Good to know, but in that case I do wonder why old AMD cards seem to perform better than the comparable Nvidia cards.

Because Radeon's launch drivers generally tend to be horrendous, both in general stability and getting the most out of said GPU.

AMD has a philosophy of prolonged graphics performance, so they apply a general design of more compute units at a lower clock, vs Nvidia's less units at a higher clock. The longer the card is in use, the more the AMD driver development team is able to improve the optimization with newer software.

They launch in a state of competitive performance, and often gradually get faster over time. Coincidentally this is also one of the major reasons that Userbenchmark is pretty unreliable, they have some old data regarding these cards.

As a 5700XT owner  I can confirm that the biggest draw back for me thus far has been stability not performance.

I often lock my FPS anyways since I'm on a 60hz screen.
