performance

hyper threading makes almost all programs faster or about the same speed. This will make your system slower.

I dont use programs that benefit from HT, if it does, i would find out and revert it.

no its only core speeds and power

what apps are you using?

ALso you can turn off ht in the os as well by disabling the 1 of the logical processors on every core.

games are programs...

also games normally will preform the same or better with ht on, so no reason to turn it off.

In sysconfig in windows you can disable logical cores.

follow up: my in-game stutter issues were fixed from disabling HT, on top i get an additional 17% fps boost

It might be my case in particular, but linus did a video on HT, and there are benchmarks out there showing a boost in frames

Does your BIOS Show this above the menu options? Are you able to click on the blue HT icon? It'd be a dumb place to put that setting but try clicking on it and see if it grays out or something🤷‍♂️

Anything from the past few years (thus designed for more than 4 threads) should run better with it on. Once you get to 6+ year old games, you might see a bit of a performance hit. It's safer to just disable threads per game there.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!
