Is it the w1 ? If so highly unlikely

Vega 56 is very inconsistent in power and you would want something with headroom

If it's an EVGA 500W 80+ Nothing then I guess it's an N1 or W1, which are junk, so don't even try it.

And yes, if you can get a 1660S for the same price as a Vega 56 it is definitely a better buy. It's got similar performance while consuming half as much power. I still wouldn't personally run it with either of the two power supplies I mentioned above, but there's chances it will actually work, whereas with the Vega 56 you had more chances of starting a fire.

If it were a good unit it would work fine

But the W1 White models are some of the worst units on the market. We had one such power supply destroy an entire system two days ago on these very forums.

While the Vega 56 recommends a 650W PSU it technically only draws a little over 200W, so you'll be fine with a 500W PSU. That being said, make sure it's a good one.

The 1660 Super is a little slower than the Vega 56, but considering it's new rather than used, and avoids all the PSU woes, it's the better choice.

Also AMD recommends a 650W PSU so better to go by that.

Is your Vega 56 a blower-style one? Because that's gonna be insanely loud and runs very hot. If not, I still think 1660 Super is a better option because there is a very good chance your PSU can't handle a Vega 56. I myself ran Vega 64 with 850w Gold PSU, which draws 280W easily after some undervolting/overclocking, so do be careful please.

MSI B450 Tomahawk Max - Ryzen 5 3600X - G.Skill Trident Z 3200C14 8GBx2 (B-die) - ASUS ROG Strix RX 5600 XT O6G

Corsair RM850x 850W - Corsair Carbide 275Q

Dell U2414H - Logitech G Pro Wireless - FILCO Majestouch Convertible 2 (Cherry MX Red) - Cooler Master MH752

The 500watt psu should be fine and even if it isn't those cards undervolt really well and it's pretty easy to get lower the power consumption on those cards
