New AIO Cools CPU and RAM, CES Prototype, Launches Q3 - Thermaltake Floe RC

Thermaltake is preparing to release a new AIO (All In One) water cooling part that cools both CPU and RAM. All with plenty of RGB. Unlike a typical AIO cooler, with a radiator and a CPU block, this new loop goes from the radiator to the CPU to a RAM water-block, and back.

It seems Thermaltake was so preoccupied with whether or not it could create an AIO liquid cooler for both the CPU and RAM, it never stopped to think if it should. Memory modules are poor candidates for liquid cooling, though we suppose if you really want the added peace of mind, these new Floe coolers provide it.

 

According to the company's press release, the products will launch in Q3 2020 in 360mm and 240mm radiator variants, and include a 2 year warranty. On the plus side, having a single device for the RGB on one's CPU, two fans, and RAM could simplify RGB management, as the press release states the RGB can be

Not sure who's demanding watercooled RAM, but time (and and benchmarks) will tell if the benefits are tangible.

what---- Why?... RAM dosnt need cooling since DDR3 came around basically. DDR4 even less so and DDR5 probably even less so. This product makes no sense

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Well, memory does overclock better if it's cooled well. If your modules get too hot even on a normally stable OC they freeze usually, so there may be an audience for that.

Although for a normal user it's pointless, I agree

The only practical use I can think of for this would be for people that want to max out TREFI at 65535 but for some reason lack the basic airflow required to do so. Typically that is for people using ITX chassis, but I can't imagine being able to fit something like this in most ITX chassis.

 

Gotta say, it's going to be a "no" from me.

The only reason i can see is to get RGB on your RAM when it's not available like those large 4 x 64gb ECC module on my rendering machine. They come bare green with black chips.

Sadly my CPU is tapped out, and I do not intend on going with Intel's 10th gen, so I doubt these numbers will improve. I'd love to break sub-35ns for latency but I don't see that happening either. TREFI is maxed at 65535, tRFC is at 250 and my cache is actually stable at 5ghz, which is extremely uncommon on Coffee Lake. The testing I've done so far with 10th gen has me unimpressed with the quality of their memory controller, and it doesn't feel any better or worse than 8th gen, and I just don't need the cores.

Water cooling only works well if there is physical contact between everything that gets hot and the cooling block. If not, air flow is better because it will get in every cornet. Thus I doubt it will work well for RAM.

I think EK made heatsinks and blocks for memory. Some OCN users do see an improvement with watercooling RAM.

I remember watercooled  ram blocks as well.  It was dismissed as an “audiophile” type behavior iirc.   Audiophiles exist though.

The misconception that this particular board should have been run on ambient cooling was made by the people that designed it.

Mine often saw much colder temps than that, but the concentration wasn't about the memory frequency, but rather the Cpu and NB.

The memory heat sinks 90% of the time where removed. Did try them once or twice though. I don't remember the memory exceeding 40c.
