Would CPUs ever be able to have 1gb of CPU cache?

Yeah expect it on high core count server chips. You already have Epyc with 256mb

when you have 64 cores 256mb of cache only means 4 per core or 2 pre thread. it can be also found in some 32 and 1 16 core model

I'd expect next gen EPYC to increase it with maybe the gen after getting even more cores pushing closet to the 1gb mark.

I'd say sub 5 years 1gb will be on server CPUS

What do you mean ? 

Like what is the fastest "storage" on a computer

Typically vram can get to stupid high speeds especially with their controller 

DDR4 can get up to 5000mhz ( highest that I have seen ) 

And with cpu cache typically you can "overclock" it but right now the only way you can cramp 256mb is by using multiple ccxs and ccds that have their own cache 

Obviously the socket is huge it's LGA 4049 (compared to Intel's biggest which is 3647)
