Has anyone else experienced frankly terrible support for ASUS Motherboards?

I'm selling my parts off to upgrade my motherboard and CPU. A really good friend of mine has been needing a cheap pc for his daughter so I'm giving him my motherboard and cpu for a cheap price. 

The person who the motherboard and CPU is for cares quite a bit about aesthetics and my motherboard (ASUS Maximus VIII Hero) comes with Aura lighting. Says so on the box and their website. I understand that when selling used you shouldn't care about looks as much. But its a friends youngish daughter. Trying to be a good friend you know.

 

I never really bothered to change the lighting on the motherboard but decided to test it out for my friend. Only to realize that the motherboard is not even recognized by Aura.

So, first, I call Asus and they tell me I have to email their technical support staff.

 

They tell me that my motherboard does not even support it and in the same email give me some troubleshooting tips .

Anyone else experienced something like this with ASUS support?

Maybe because it's so old it lost support already?

I mean warranty. Technically after warranty ends you only get bug fixes, nothing else.

It's not even about the bug. If I am honest. Just, straight up telling my motherboard does not have the feature is horrible.

Generally Asus support is meh at best 

And I have heard many bad things about it 

Unless you mean bios support and not technical support lol

Did you download the Aura software or Armoury Crate software?

The Aura software is pretty out of date, I would uninstall it and try the Armoury Crate software for RGB instead.

oh im dealing with them now with this shitty Armoury Crate, which won't go back to default lighting thanks to it still leaving files on my pc, even after using revouninstaller. Literally got 6 email from 6 different support staff trying to help me, and non of em are.

I stopped buying Asus mobos after they left Windows 10 unsupported on what was a 2yr old board at the time, I figure they'll continue to fail to provide so I no longer see them as good investments, I'm now trying out MSI!
