ryzen 5 1600AF should i use 3200mhz or 2933mhz ram speed?

been trying to figure this out last 2 days should i use 3200mhz or 2933mhz ram speed? 

 

2133mhz is stock i enabled xmp yesterday and it set to 3200mhz and i havent had any issues but will my pc perform betteru sing 2933mhz?

 

google says my mb supports 3200mhz max but it says ryzen 5 1600 not 1600AF only supports 2933mz max without overclocking? does that mean over clocking the ram or the cpu also?

 

ryzen 1600 is different from the 1600AF, 1600AF has the same memory controller as the 2600 i think and a few things different

If it runs fine at 3200MHz, leave it at that.

Lowering the frequency could lower your performance, but I definitely can't see it increasing it.

i noticed when i turn my pc on now it shows dots instead of mhz but if i restart from windows then it shows mhz? does this mean its unstable at 3200?

No it doesn't 

It's most likely just a weird visual bug 

The imc of the 1600 af is pretty decent it should have no problem getting to 3200 

Also don't use task manager 

Use hwinfo64 or cpu-z

it seems to be doing the dot thing if i power on from button if i restart from windows it shows mhz like its supposed too after restart whys it doing this

It's a visual thing 

It took me a long while for me to notice it 

If you want correct readings just use something like hwinfo64 or cpu-z

No but I have a kaby lake Based system 

I don't have a 3200mhz kit

would like some more input please i turned xmp off and tested it it does the same thing so i just turned it back on after testing it why is my pc showing 3 dots instead of mhz when i power on from button but after windows restart it shows mhz like it should

 

i know cpu z shows correctly still but this is just bugging me

currently running my r5 2600 with 32 gigs (4x8) at 2666. when it was just two sticks of 8 they ran fine at 3200. when i added the additional sticks it crashes above 3000. ive been slowly playing around and increasing the ram speed little by little to see the max i can run at, but my cinebench r20 has taken a hit of about 150 points with the decreased speeds. definitely run it at whatever the fastest is stable so you dont lose out on performance.

so today i started my pc and it shows mhz not dots but after i played pubg on steam it shows dots instead of mhz is something wrong? i dont see why it would be doing this

The dots aren't a problem. There is just another digit in the compressed memory section (15.7 vs 0.2). This pushes everything right and task manager decides it would be too close to the edge to fit "MHz" without looking bad.

wow i feel stupid now when i maximize the task manager it shows mhz instead f the dots i just had the task manager to small so it was doing that
