Go to solution Solved by Stahlmann,

There are adapters from thunderbolt to displayport that should do the trick.

Only thing is idk if this setup would support G-Sync or FreeSync.

Hello everyone and thank you for reading.

Long story short, I bought a new laptop that has no display port.  Only hdmi and thunderbolt 3.

I have a 25 inch 240hz alienware monitor and wanted to know by best option to not be stuck at 60hz hdmi.  I'm trying to get 240hz at 1080p.

I will post full specs on the laptop.

Thank you SO much for any advice and help.

I also am not sure if the thunderbolt 3 is hooked to the GPU or cpu?

Idk much about Laptops or even thunderbolt really, sorry...

But i would guess it's hooked to the CPU.

You can try the Adapter and return if it doesnt work i guess. 😅

update..

I called cyberpower and they said the thunderbolt is connected to the motherboard and probably wouldn't be able to achieve 240hz..

He did suggest however that an "active hdmi to displayport" would be able to because it has a chip on it.  Does anyone have experience with that or know that it would work?

I have a very limited budget and would like to be sure before purchasing.  Thank you so much again.
